사회통념, 고정관념을 말할 때 'Conventional wisdom'

A weaker won usually helps the South Korean economy. It makes Korean products cheaper in overseas markets and improves their price competitiveness.However, a weaker won also raises the cost of imported raw materials, which can hurt Korean manufacturers. According to data from the Bank of Korea, South Korea’s raw material imports rose 51.9% from a year earlier to $95.97 billion in the first quarter.The increase was mainly caused by higher energy prices because Korean companies had to spend more in Korean won to buy oil and gas priced in foreign currencies.At the same time, the Japanese yen also weakened. The Korea Exchange has opened its third overseas office in Frankfurt, Germany. The exchange held an opening ceremony for the KRX Frankfurt Office in December 2022.“Frankfurt was selected after we considered financial centers located within the European Union (EU),” a Korea Exchange official said.It had previously opened offices in Beijing in 2008 and Singapore in 2017.The Frankfurt office will handle regulatory affairs in the EU and establish a network with local exchanges and financial institutions in the EU.It plans to obtain EU benchmark certification for South Korean stock indices within the year.
