[영어 이야기] 유행하거나 인기를 끌 땐 'catch on'

catch는 움직이는 물체를 잡다는 뜻입니다. ‘계속하는’ ‘진행중인’의 뜻을 가진 부사 on과 함께 쓰여 계속 잡고 있다 즉 유행하다, 인기를 끌고 있다는 뜻이 됐지요.

Samsung Electronics will premiere the next-generation flagship smartphone model Galaxy S24 at a Galaxy Unpacked event in Silicon Valley next week.

The new model is said to be equipped with on-device AI, a technology that’s fast catching on in the tech world around the globe.

“With the release of the Galaxy S24, we intend to shake up the global mobile market dominated by Apple and Google,” said a senior Samsung executive.

This technology enables customized and personalized AI functions on smart gadgets such as smartphones, laptops and even in autonomous driving cars without internet connectivity. It will be the next ‘game-changer’ in the information technology sector.

Samsung Electronics has already registered its AI phone trademark with the European Union Intellectual Property Office and the UK Intellectual Property Office.

다음 주 실리콘밸리에서 열리는 갤럭시 언팩 행사에서 삼성전자는 차세대 플래그십 스마트폰인 갤럭시 S24를 선보일 예정이다.
