⊙ 서두름과 관련된 표현

현대인에게 있어서 시간과 관련된 영어 표현은 무궁무진하다고 할 수 있다.

특히 바쁜 학생이나 직장인들에게 있어서 흔히 쓰이는 말 중의 하나가 '정해진 시간에 끝내는 것'이라고 할 수 있는데 meet the deadline이라고 표현하면 된다.

제때 끝내는 것은 done on time으로，제 시간에 끝내지 못하는 것은 run behind schedule로 말하면 무난하다.

Do you think he can be done by the end of the month?

그가 이번 달 안에 일을 다 끝낼 수 있을 것 같니?

You just can't finish later than Friday.

금요일까지 일을 다 끝내야 한다.

The work has to be done in time for my trip next week.

다음 주 여행가기 전까지 그 일은 다 끝내야 한다.

She was in such a hurry that she left her cell phone at home.

그는 너무도 서두르는 바람에 휴대폰을 집에 두고 왔다.
