주식시장 호황은 bull market, 약세때는 bear market

⊙ 주식과 관련된 표현

최근 국제적인 금융위기로 인해 주식시장이 곤두박질치고 있다.

'주식'은 경제활동에 있어서 가장 근간이 되는 존재라 할 수 있다.

다음은 주식과 관련된 필수적인 표현들이다.

한국의 주가지수는 코스피(Kospi)라고 하지만 미국의 주가지수는 다우 산업지수(Dow Jones Industrial Average Index)로 통칭된다.

참고로 주식시장이 호황을 보이는 것을 bull market이라고 하고 반면에 주식시장이 약세를 기록하는 것을 bear market이라고 한다는 것은 상식에 가까운 내용이므로 반드시 알아두자.

At the closing bell，the <Dow Jones Industrial Index> was up about 200 points.

마감 시 다우 종합주가지수의 지수는 약 200포인트 상승했다.

⊙ 환율과 관련된 표현들

'환율'은 exchange rate라고 하기도 하지만 일반적으로 currency로 표현한다.

최근에 한국에서도 급격한 환율 상승으로 인해 여러 문제가 발생하고 있는데 환율의 상승과 하락에 관련된 표현은 다음과 같은 표현들 정도만 알아두면 충분하다.

The dollar <took a steep dive> over a month.

달러화가 한 달 동안 급격히 하락했다.

The won <hit record lows> against the dollar.

원화가 달러화에 비해 최저수준으로 폭락했다.

The dollar <soared to new highs>.

달러화가 기록적이 수준으로 급등했다.

The Canada dollar <hit an all－time high> against the U.S. dollar.

캐나다 달러가 미국달러에 대비해 사상 최고 수준으로 급등했다.

⊙ 물가와 관련된 표현
