아무리 어휘력이 뛰어나도 암기하지 않고는 그 뜻을 완전히 이해할 수 없는 어휘들 가운데 많이 쓰이는 유익하고 새로운 표현들을 위주로 한 번 더 살펴보자.

최근 토익이나 토플과 같은 영어 능력 시험은 물론이고, 수능에서도 구어 표현이나 관용어구들을 묻거나 지문에 포함시키는 경우가 많으므로, 여기에 등장한 어휘들은 꼭 예문과 같이 학습하여 자신의 것으로 만들기 바란다.



ㆍthe apple of one's eye: 매우 소중한 존재

Everyone knows that Mike is the apple of his aunt's eye.

마크가 이모에게 아주 소중한 존재라는 것은 모두가 잘 알고 있다.
