be동사는 주어와 술어의 연결 고리일 뿐 그 자체로 의미를 갖고 있지는 않아요

The home environment is of principal importance during these years [from birth to about 3 years] since much of the infant’s time is spent in that situation. However, over the past few decades care-giving and educational programs for infants have been developing in the U.S., as well as being available in some other countries for some time. Even though some aspects of language development are still very much the product of the familial situation in which a child is born, these programs can impact development as well, and can do so in a positive manner.《Language Development and Education》 중에서이 시기[출생 후부터 대략 3년 정도의 시기]의 가정환경은 매우 중요한데, 그 환경에서 유아가 많은 시간을 보내기 때문이다. 하지만 몇십 년에 걸쳐 유아를 돌보고 교육하는 프로그램이 미국에서 발전해왔으며, 상당히 오랜 기간 다른 나라에서도 그 프로그램을 이용할 수 있었다. 비록 언어 발달의 몇몇 양상이 아이가 자라난 친숙한 환경의 산물인 경우가 많지만 이런 프로그램 또한 언어 발달에 영향을 줄 수 있고 긍정적인 방식으로 영향을 줄 수 있다. 해설우리가 흔히 사용하는 be 동사는 그것의 주어와 시제에 따라 다양한 형태를 보입니다. 가끔 한국어로 옮기는 과정에서 ‘-이다’ 또는 ‘-있다’라고 해석하지만 be 동사는 그 자체로 의미가 있지 않습니다. 주어와 술어를 연결하는 기능적 목적으로만 사용됩니다. 그렇기 때문에 연결 동사(linking verb)라고 하기도 합니다. 예문에 있는 예시를 들어보도록 하겠습니다. The home environment is of principal importance라는 문장을 보면 be 동사인 is는 주어인 the home environment와 술어인 of principal importance를 연결해주고 있습니다. 즉 주어가 술어의 특성이 있다는 의미를 전달합니다.아마도
